Since he was the Standing Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Security, he covered the billion-dollar Mobifone case of buying AVG, so with his current almost absolute power, Lam’s “habits” are even more firmly protected. With such backyards, earning billions is easy, so for him, wearing a Patek Philippe watch is no different from wearing a shirt or a pair of shoes.
After becoming General Secretary, Lam wanted to make a bigger splash than his predecessor. If Nguyen Phu Trong’s name is associated with the “furnace burning” policy, then Lam will “streamline the apparatus” and impose heavy fines on people to restore order in traffic safety. The streamlining policy is only in the preparation stage, but many people predict that it will create chances for more corruption as state officials bribe for maintaining their high positions. The policy of fining people shows that it is a policy of trapping people for profit, not for the benefit of society.
With a king who is “greedy” in both the literal and figurative sense, it is difficult for the people to expect anything. There cannot be a king who is greedy for money and fame and is a wise king, it can only be a tyrant.
If he only receives a salary of $1,000 per month and only works for the government, with no other income, then certainly, no one would dare to eat a gold-plated beef party worth 2 months’ salary, and wear a watch worth 57 months’ salary. If there is, this person will definitely be investigated.
Progressive countries cannot accept a person working in the state apparatus embezzling public funds, even just one cent, so they are severely punished. In Vietnam, the higher the position, the more reckless corrupting, but the safer it is. Therefore, the corruption situation is terrible.
